A sad day today, which affected my desire to go out exploring. For many that would be armistice day, but for me it was the death of Leonard Cohen. He was 82 and had had a resurgence in popularity and output (though this was born of necessity - he was broke) over the past 5 years. I had hoped that I would see the great man one more time, but not to be. I'm not blaming my lethargy totally on dear Leonard, I think I just needed to do nothing for a day, I'm stimulated out!
I was a bit of a moaner yesterday and my reaction to those circumstances were perhaps disproportionate. Though the staff were useless, the apartment is great and really good value. It sleeps 3 and has a well equipped kitchen.
Modern, compact kitchen with breakfast bar
Japanese style sliding door to bedroom
What I did do today:
- I went for a supermarket shop, which was great; I bought enough food for 4 days meals, for the cost of one meal in a restaurant.
- I did a load of washing in the bath
- I stuggled all day with my devices to get the email to work (stopped working last night) - now up and running
- I planned my tour for tomorrow
- I watched the mating ritual of three pigeons - one was seeing off another (not sure if two males and one female or visa versa or any other combination you can think of).
- I organised for my Bonito to be serviced upon my return (see below)
I asked Damerells to order some new tyres for when it is serviced - they told me that they couldn't get the recommended brand in this country. I didn't believe them, so I wrote to Honda UK, who promptly got back to me, stating that the Honda dealers can order them through Honda themselves. I informed Damerells, who got back to me later in the day with a quote from Honda for - sit down now - £840! I bought these same tyres in Mexico for £250. The equivalent tyres from Continental costs £183. I fired off another letter to Honda telling them, this might be the end of a beautiful friendship. I'll await their response.
What the appartment does lack is Air Conditioning, but it is not overly hot at the moment.
* I had a letter of apology this morning from the reception staff (Typically, the maid was asked to deliver it, who had had no part to play in the fiasco of yesterday)
